Agility training today

Today was our first private agility lesson in Bristol and it was great to get some one on one time with the dogs and work on their own individual "problems".

Jemma:
We worked on me driving her forwards by getting her excited rather than just shouting high pitched commands at her - it worked well, she picked up a lot on her speed and seemed to enjoy it even more, something I wasn't sure was possible!! We also worked on her driving to the bottom of the A-frame without me being there, rather than her going slowly down it from the top with me along her side - she also picked this up well :) Her weaves, well we did these on lead but with driving her forward to her target with her ball/treats on - this got her head down so she was looking at the poles and not the sky - again I can see this working!! :) so all in all she had a good day and I was very proud of her!!

Elliot:
Well I was very proud of him - there was a donkey and pony in the next door field and he looked at them but didn't go to chase them at all - very unusual for him!! :) We worked on him driving forwards to his tuggy and he managed two jumps, tunnel, three jumps :) We did some contact work on the A-frame and he was slowly getting the hang of it - his favourite trick is to spin round off the contact and then touch the target bless him!!. We also did some figures of eight around jump wings for his handling and he picked this up quickly!! :)

Homework:
I have got to work on both their waits - they are very twitchy with every move I make!! Also got to do some round the wing stuff with Elliot but will also do this with Jem.
